The Studio and Safety Coordinator supports academic instruction by maintaining and enhancing all shop and studio classroom functions within Art & Design (75%), with primary emphasis in Sculpture, Metals, Ceramics, and Glass and as the Edna Carlsten Gallery Preparator (25%). The department duties include oversight, repair, maintenance and replacement of Art & Design Department studio equipment; monitoring and enhancing the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff within the Department through training, policy development, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP); development of a replacement schedule for essential tools and safety supplies; identifying facility space and safety needs within the Department; working with the Department and various campus resources to develop proposals and seek funding to address needed facilities improvements; serving as a liaison among various university facilities and support service areas that interface with the Department; managing the Department of Art & Design Woodshop; and the supervision of student studio assistants. The Studio and Safety Coordinator will be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
