Welcome to the XYZ Lab!
We are the University of Minnesota Department of Art's Digital Fabrication Lab located in Regis Center for Art East, Room 125. Our 1,150 square foot facility houses two Universal laser cutters, four Prusa 3D printers, two Roland vinyl cutters, a Ricoh Ceramic Decal printer and a Forest Scientific CNC Router. We also support the Department's ShopSabre Sidekick 4 CNC Plasma Cutter.
Walk-ins do NOT guarantee machine usage. We highly recommend making an appointment.

Take a virtual 360 tour here!
Our lab stocks an inventory of commonly used materials available for purchase, including cardboard, MDF, plywood, acrylic, foam, vinyl and PLA filament for 3D printing. You are welcome to bring in your own materials, however you must be able to identify what the material is and cutting is subject to the approval of XYZ Lab staff.
We are a learning lab staffed with Technicians and Student Workers who can assist you with file preparation and machine use. Our lab computers are PCs with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator and Rhino/RhinoCAM. Please be prepared with the correct file types. For questions, contact Robin Schwartzman at [email protected].
